Election Results 2021: Weaver wins in contested Wheat Ridge City Council race

With no ballot initiatives and only one contested council race, Wheat Ridge had a quiet election day.

Only one Wheat Ridge City Council race is contested in 2021.

Ward 3 Incumbent, Amanda Weaver faced a challenge from Ihor Figlus, who ran unsuccessfully for a council seat in 2019.

As of the Nov. 3 vote tally, Weaver is in the lead with 57.25% of the vote, after 2,833 votes had been counted.

The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder estimates that 99% of the county's ballots had been counted,  as of the morning of Nov. 3.

Figlus works in business management and finance. His platform supports private property rights, examination and improvement of policies and procedures throughout the city, and he thinks the budget process should reflect what the community wants and needs.

Weaver owns 5 Fridges Farm in Wheat Ridge. Her platform supports common sense growth promoting diverse neighborhoods, green spaces, local connections, and public safety supporting a well-trained and community-involved police department.

Other incumbents including Mayor Bud Starker, District 1 council member, Janeece Hoppe and District 4 council member, Leah Dozeman, have run unopposed in this election cycle.

District 2 council member, Zachary Urban is term-limited. Candidate Scott Ohm ran to fill Urban’s seat.
