Teams sought to play in benefit mini-golf tourney

This year’s Inter-Faith Community Services Puttin’ on the Green Mini Golf Tournament is being billed as the most fun you can have while helping a worthy cause.

The event will be held May 7 at the Colorado Journey Miniature Golf Course located at the corner of West Belleview Avenue and South Windermere Street.

The proceeds from the event go to Inter-Faith, an organization that provides support for needy families and individuals who are struggling by providing food, clothing and other assistance.

This is a team tournament. A team is made up of five members who will be playing the course and competing for prizes. But it also is a fund-raiser and Inter-Faith has asked each team member to pledge to raise at least $200.

Team check-in and breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. and a 9 a.m. shotgun blast signals the start of play. Players are treated to lunch and there is a silent auction and drawings for door prizes.

“This is a very important event for us because, while our requests for services are up almost 40 percent, our donations have declined about 30 percent,” said Maria Pearson , Inter-Faith Community Coordinator. “It is one of our major fundraising events. Last year’s tournament was successful and we are hoping to raise more than that this year. But, to do it, we’ll have to have some more teams sign up for the tournament.”

Pearson said there are two divisions for teams playing in the tournament: the service club division and the business division.

So far, teams entered in the Service Club Division include representatives from Englewood Rotary, Littleton Sertoma, Highlands Ranch Rotary and Littleton Lions and Littleton Rotary.

Some of the business division team entries include Radiology Imaging, St. Andrew United Methodist Church and Ascension Lutheran.

There are trophies for tournament play, door prizes and everyone leaves with a goodie bag. The event is scheduled to be completed by about noon.

This year, registering online provides five extra opportunities to win door prizes worth up to $500. All donations to the event are tax deductible and all the proceeds go to help people in the local community.

For information about Inter-Faith, the tournament or to register a team, call Pearson at 303-789-0501.
