Students invited to enter writing contest

Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum creative writing competition open to grades 1-12

Students in Littleton Public Schools who would like to get published are invited to enter the Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum’s 53rd annual creative writing contest.

The contest is open to students in grades 1-12 who attend Littleton Public Schools, or who live in the school district’s boundaries. Entry forms are available at Bemis Library or at https://friendslittleton.org/creative-writing-contest.

Entry categories are: poetry, any length and all forms; short story, 2,500 words maximum, fiction or nonfiction; and other, anime, script, essay, speech.

The deadline to submit entries is 5 p.m. Saturday, March 28. No late entries will be accepted.

Students should staple the entry form to manuscript and submit at the front desk at Bemis Public Library, 6014 S. Datura St., Littleton, or email it to FriendsCreativeWritingContest@gmail.com. Manuscripts will not be returned.

Winners will be notified by the week of April 13. Because of the volume of contestants, only the winners will be notified. All winning entries will be bound in a book and copies will be available for purchase. Past-year books may be referenced in the children’s room at the library.

The awards ceremony will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at Bemis Library. The keynote speaker is Kristen Gilligan, co-owner of the Tattered Cover Bookstore.

This contest is sponsored and managed solely by the Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum. The staff of the Bemis Public Library has no involvement in procedures or judging. Littleton Public School boundaries are Belleview Avenue, Sheridan Boulevard, Holly Street and County Line Road.
