Candidates vie to replace retiring Jim Woods

Posted

The City of Littleton will host a public reception for city manager finalists Aug. 22.

Current City Manager Jim Woods announced his retirement last spring. It will go into effect Sept. 30, and the city is on track to have a replacement selected by Sept. 6.

The city received more than 60 applications for the position. They are being evaluated by search firm The Mercer Group, and a list of leading candidates will be presented to the city council during an executive session Aug. 8.

City councilmembers will then narrow the field to a list of four to eight finalists, who will be on hand for the Aug. 22 reception. The public meeting will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Littleton Museum, 6028 S. Gallup St.

Littleton will release the names of the finalists as soon as they’re notified and have had time to inform their respective employers, city spokeswoman Kelli Narde said.

The city councilmembers and staff leaders will further interview the finalists Aug. 23 and 24. A contract should be finalized with the new city manager by Sept. 6, with a start date of Oct. 1.

A retirement celebration for Woods is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Littleton Center, 2255 W. Berry Ave.
