The Littleton Police Department arrested 33-year-old Christine Ward on preliminary charges of second-degree burglary and theft after officers responded to an active burglary early Friday morning at Littleton High School.

The department was notified of the burglary shortly after 4 a.m., police spokesperson Sheera Poelman said. Officers searched the building, and the department announced just before 7 a.m. that a woman had been taken into custody.

The Littleton Police Department said it received assistance from Englewood police, Jefferson County deputies and Littleton Public Schools. The school is clear and safe, the department reported around 9 a.m.

Additional police are on campus today in an abundance of caution, according to an email from Littleton Public Schools. School started one hour late and buses will run one hour later in the afternoon.
