Open house for future teachers

Littleton Public Schools’ Teacher Cadet program is holding an open house Jan. 12 for parents, counselors and prospective students.

The event will run from 4-7 p.m. at the Ames Facility, 7300 S. Clermont Drive in Centennial. The Teacher Cadet program is open to high school juniors and seniors from LPS, the Cherry Creek School District, the Sheridan School District and the Englewood School District. It targets students who want to pursue a career in education, offering both high school and college credit.

The program will begin accepting applications Feb. 1 for next school year. The full-year course begins with a semester of lectures and teacher observations. The second semester includes hands-on field experience teaching in actual LPS classrooms.
