Rice is the best choice to represent our district
I met District 38 State Rep. Joe Rice about three years ago. I
was part of a team of small business owners who had, for several
years, been actively working on health care reform. For the record,
our team was half Republican and half Democrat, and all members of
the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce.
I’m not connected with Rep. Rice’s campaign in any way, but I do
live in District 38. Our health care team invited Rep. Rice to meet
with us over coffee. We wanted to brief him on our activities and
he agreed to the meeting. It would turn out to be the first of many
such meetings since then. For me, it was a perfect opportunity to
get to know the person who represents me.
What I now know first hand about Rep. Rice is that his primary
motivation as a legislator is to solve the problem, regardless of
the respective party positions. If the parties are not publicly
speaking to one another, he brings them together in private
meetings.
He thinks for himself, is a true leader, and works year-round on
our behalf. If you don’t believe that, then consider this. He even
managed to continue conducting his monthly town meetings during his
multiple tours in Iraq. Fellow representatives thought enough of
him to arrange the meetings on his behalf while he phoned in from
Iraq to participate. He even managed to stay in touch with our
health care task force during those same periods.
I have been thoroughly impressed, not only with his dedication
to state and country, but also with the thoughtful way he considers
each issue and each point of view.
It is little wonder to me that Joe Rice has managed to get
elected as a Democrat in a traditionally Republican district. I
know there is strong sentiment now to throw out incumbents, but
what a shame it would be to blindly toss out one of the best of the
best. After all, the real goal is to send excellent individuals to
represent us, isn’t it?
Rep. Rice is the real deal and he has earned your support during
his re-election bid. A vote for Joe Rice is a vote for quality
representation in District 38.
