The word ‘route’ just isn’t enough to describe it this time.

In the latest demolition act that is the Eagles’ drop into Class 4A competition and the West Metro League, Heritage played host to Denver West Sept. 26 at Littleton Public Schools Stadium. The final score could inspire any future visiting competitor to simply stay on the bus: 70-0.

Heritage posted 42 points in the first quarter alone, aided by two touchdown receptions by Jordan Edwards, who finished with 102 yards. His longest touchdown catch was for 47 yards.

Senior quarterback Mitch Griebel was 70 percent on completions against West with 225 passing yards and had two touchdown passes, one to Jordan and another to Jordan Delbaugh for 28 yards, and one 29-yard run to paydirt.

Delbaugh had a second touchdown in the second quarter, this time on a 62-yard run, helping the Eagles to a 54-0 lead at halftime.

Also finding the end zone for Heritage was Cody Sanders on a 29-yard pass interception run back to glory, Blair Zimmerman on a 9-yard run and Mark Ortivez on a 34-yard run.

In the fourth quarter, Max Bulba had a 30-yard touchdown jaunt, and Josh Myers sprinted for a 39-yard strike. Kicker Eric Vadelius went 8-for-8 on after-touchdown conversion attempts. Cole Hansen, who took over in the second half, was 2-for-2 on PAT’s.
