Council to recognize Safety Day volunteers

Posted

Littleton’s first Safety Day would not have been as successful if it weren’t for the help of many residents and volunteers, the Littleton Police Department says.

To thank them for their efforts, the Littleton City Council and the Littleton Police Department are recognizing approximately 40 citizens at a council meeting July 21.

“The Littleton City Council and the Littleton Police Department salute the citizens whose hard work helped make Safety Day possible,” Littleton Police said.

“Their commitment and willingness to assist with this annual event exemplifies the special spirit that is so prevalent in our community.”

Safety Day was held on the grounds of Arapahoe Community College May 17.

Displays and presentations about programs offered by LPD included: police equipment, special teams, the K-9 unit, DUI awareness, crime prevention, SWAT, traffic unit, patrol vehicles, crime scene investigations, identity theft, traffic safety, illegal drug recognition, lost and missing children, crash cars, Ride Smart, bicycle officers, McGruff, Reddi Fox, and the dunk tank.

A mini-grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation, titled “Share the Road” helped pay for the event and paid for the 200 helmets that were given to children and toddlers.
