Chamber names ACC Foundation nonprofit of year

The Arapahoe Community College Foundation was selected as the 2019 nonprofit of the year by the Chamber of Northwest Douglas County and Economic Development Corporation.

The chamber presented six business awards at its annual breakfast Jan. 31.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the Chamber of Northwest Douglas County and Economic Development Corporation,” Courtney Loehfelm, executive director of the ACC Foundation, said in a news release. “This honor reflects the dedication and commitment of our Board of Directors, our community partners and our generous donors.”

In 2019, the ACC Foundation received a gift of up to $10 million from the Sturm Family Foundation. One of the largest gifts in the history of the Colorado Community College System, more than $5 million is available for dollar-for-dollar matching for students and programs at ACC's Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock, the release said.

“Thanks to the Sturm Family Foundation and the matching Lift the Gift campaign, we are able to develop a unique program innovation fund and an endowed scholarship fund,” Loehfelm said in the release.

The ACC Foundation provides financial assistance and broad-based community support for ACC's students and programs, making a positive impact on the economic development of our community by providing an educated workforce. Contact courtney.loehfelm@arapahoe.edu or 303-797-5914 for information.
