A man was shot in the shoulder following an attempted vehicle theft in Littleton.

At 12:30 a.m. Jan. 6, Littleton police officers responded to the scene of a shooting in the 6400 block of S. Crocker Street.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, a 38-year-old Littleton resident, confronted two males attempting to steal the stereo out of his vehicle.

The suspects fled the scene, then returned a few minutes later, firing several shots from a handgun at the victim.

The victim was struck one time in the shoulder.

He was taken to the hospital, where the bullet was removed.

A Littleton police officer spotted the suspects’ vehicle a few blocks from the scene, and the two suspects were arrested.

The passenger was identified as 28-year-old Lincoln Joshua Lucero. Lucero has been booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on a variety of charges that include attempted murder and assault.

The driver was a juvenile and was incarcerated at a juvenile facility.
