Arapahoe clinches Centennial title

Posted

The Arapahoe High School boys’ soccer team made a strong first impression in the Centennial League this fall.

Milt Geist scored with 27:05 remaining in regulation as the Warriors defeated visiting Grandview, the 2007 Centennial champion, 1-0 Oct. 14 in Littleton to finish unbeaten and as league champions for 2008 – the team’s first year in the league since the mid 1980s.

Geist took a lead pass from Connor Talbert with a couple of steps on his defender on the left side of the box. Arapahoe is now 9-1-4 overall and 6-0-1 in league play, finishing ahead of 5-1 Cherry Creek.

“We really wanted to go undefeated because it’s our first year in this league and we wanted to send a message,” Geist said. “Smoky Hill, Cherry Creek and Grandview are always three of the top teams in state. To come in here this year and beat all three of them really sends a message that we belong here.”
