Young and old bond over stockings

Holidays can bring people together who might otherwise never meet.

A gaggle of youngsters from Shiloh House, a residential treatment facility for youths who have suffered abuse and neglect, visited Highline Place, a residential memory care community at 6767 South Broadway in Littleton, on Nov. 30 to decorate stockings that will be stuffed with goodies and redistributed to the Shiloh House kids.

“Our residents love to give back,” said Jodi Cornman, community relations director for Highline Place. “Even though they may be impaired memory-wise, it just gives them such a good feeling to do this for the kids.”

The cross-generational feeling is mutual, said River, 12.

“It’s fun to come hang out with these kind of people,” River said. “It’s not the decorating I like, it’s that I get to know these people and that I get to hang out with them.”
