Future Business Leaders shine

On Nov. 2, Littleton High School’s Future Business Leaders of America club competed in the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge. Students can buy and sell “stocks” in a mock stock market, competing to earn the most “money” in their portfolios. The team placed first, second, third and fourth.

The team also participated in the National Fall Leadership Conference in Denver, welcoming chapters from 10 different states. Members attended comprehensive workshops, heard keynote speeches and enjoyed many other fun activities.

The LHS team will complete in the FBLA District 2 Leadership Conference in February, with the goal of qualifying for the state conference in April.

‘Foto’ named exceptional teacher

Stanford University has recognized Littleton High School science teacher Leslie Fotopulos for exceptional teaching. Fotopulos was nominated for this Stanford recognition by Tres Pittman, who was the valedictorian of Littleton High School’s Class of 2012 and is now a freshman at Stanford.

Pittman described Fotopulos, known affectionately as “Foto” by her students, as “a constant source of positivity for Littleton High.” Fotopulos is the chairperson of the schools’ science department, and the chief executive of the honor society. Pittman said that Fotopulos helped him develop a strong work ethic and a sense of purpose as his chemistry teacher and as the head coach of the boys’ swim team.
